What quality assurance practice(s) do you recommend for a localization project?

Monica Basting, Quality Manager and Assistant Director Linguistic Services, Wordbank Ltd.

At Wordbank, we adhere to four key quality assurance practices to achieve effective communication - the ultimate goal for all marketing localization projects. Firstly, source material is always translated in the country where it will be used. An independent editing stage follows to ensure that the language version conveys the source text message and meets the client's style requirements. The third stage is Wordbank's internal QA process, a thorough cross-language check of the edited document using client glossaries if they exist. This identifies any critical content errors such as figures, product names, inconsistencies, omissions or misinterpretations. The final stage is proofreading.
