Wordbank's speedy localization of restructuring annoucement puts Ivensys on front foot with employees

29 April 2003: Leading localization specialist, Wordbank, under the strictest security, localized the employee communication of Invensys’ major corporate restructuring into nine languages during the weekend prior to the company’s announcement on 15 April 2003.

The project, which involved the translation of nearly 6,500 words into the major European languages plus Japanese, Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese, met the client’s tight deadlines so that the company could effectively communicate the implications of the restructuring to its 50,000 staff throughout the world via presentations, email and the intranet.

Aware of the crucial importance of the timely delivery of this information, Wordbank’s Project Team in the London office worked throughout the weekend together with the in-country translators to deliver slide presentations, Qs and As, video transcripts and a special issue of CEO Direct, a regular weekly communication direct from Chief Executive, Rick Haythornwaite, to all staff.

Susan Kelly, Invensys Group Employee Communications Manager, commenting on Wordbank’s response to the challenge, said, “We really appreciated your efforts to meet the tight deadlines on this announcement. We’ve received many emails from staff thanking us for providing them with translated materials so quickly. It has put us on the front foot with our employee communications around the world.”
